How to nail a glowy base that lasts all day and night!

So you have an event coming up, you have been flicking through the gram and come across an image of a model at a beach shoot and love the dewy, bronzed glow she has. You’re getting your makeup done at 9am, the event starts at 12 and runs all day and night. You need staying power. But here is the thing, photoshoot makeup is applied completely differently to special occasion makeup. At a shoot makeup only needs to last max 30 minutes while they take the shots and a makeup artist is always behind the camera ready to touch up at any point. Also that glowy makeup in the picture your showing would not be set with powder, would probably involve some kind of vaseline or lip gloss on the skin for the ultimate glow/dewy effect and would slide right off within the hour. Keep this in mind when choosing the type of skin finish you want for your event.

My trick to glowy skin that lasts all day is to still set the face with powder but use a great combo of glowy products both on top and underneath and to make sure the skin is super hydrated! This way you get the best of both worlds, longevity and glow ✨

1. Weleda Skin Food Light

The glow starts with how you prep your skin. Using a super hydrating moisturiser under your makeup is a great way to boost your glow from within. I am a huge fan of the Weleda Skin Food. Their light version is great for events for those with normal to dry skin. If you find yourself to be super dry, you can even give the original Skin Food a go, it's quite heavy but if your skin can handle it, it gives you so much hydration!

2. Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter

I am all about using a liquid glow product under foundation, and this has to be one of my favourites for creating that gorgeous glow from within. This product is really an all in one, it blurs, smooths and illuminates the skin with its wizardry. I have nothing else to say, just try it! (trust me!)

To apply this product I recommend our 201 - Foundation Buffer Brush, the more you buff and work the product into the skin, the better the results!

3. Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation

If a youthful glow is what you are after then look no further. This medium to buildable coverage foundation is my holy grail for mature skin due to its ability to give whoever wears it a youthful glow stronger than a newborn. Don't be fooled however, this one isn't just for the well lived. I highly recommend this foundation to anyone wanting to enhance their natural glow!

At the moment I have been loving the 203 - Angled Buffer to apply this foundation. It adapts beautifully to the contours of the face for a fast and flawless application.

4. MAC New Romance Blush

OK, THIS BLUSH... I mean I have no words. The glow and disney princess like aura this blush gives my face is indescribable. It's amazing. I wear it everyday and could never leave the house without it on. 

To apply blush effortlessly I use the 002- Cheek Colour Brush. The shape fits perfectly to the cheek, with ultra soft hairs to provide perfect distribution for a flawless finish. No harsh lines here!

5. Hourglass Radiant Bronze Light

Okay, so you want that bronzed glow that makes you look effortlessly sunkissed by the european sun? I got you covered. Not only is this bronzer a dream to apply, flawlessly blending across the skin. Its contains just the right amount of light reflecting particles to diffuse the skin and provide a gorgeous bronze glow. I also love using it on the eyes softly through the crease with the 008 - Diffuser Brush.

Let's talk powder highlighter. To make the high points of the face pop I love using the Dior Backstage Glow Face Palette. With 4 shades to choose from their something for every occasion, or do what I do and mix the shades together for a totally custom shade! I find this product doesn't sit on top of the skin like some other highlighters, giving a gorgeous glow from within!

I use the 003 - Glow Brush to apply my highlighter. It effortlessly diffuses the product whilst being dense enough to apply with precision.
